Aplos Systems Team delivers bespoke software developemnt through four specialists, the Managing Director, Anthony Mayfield, a Modern Technologies specialist, Graham Smith,
a Technical and Database specialist, Adam Goodman and a Maths specialist, Trevor Cole. Between all four contractors there is over 40
years of computing experience. All staff are academically trained to at least degree level in their fields and have worked for some of
the major companies in finance, manufacturing and food & beverages.
Aplos Systems was founded by Anthony Mayfield as a means to control directly his creativity in application development and web-design. The four specialists are colleagues and friends that are respected for their knowledge, hard work and capacity to fulfil deadlines. Motivated is key to keeping up to date with the new technologies that are created every year. Internet and computing encompasses a vast set of skills and no one developer could be an expert in all areas. That is why the different members of the team at Aplos concentrate on different aspects of computing fields to make sure that the most up to date knowledge is available at all times.
Computing isn't always about keeping up to date, previous experience in proven technologies is relied upon heavily. It is understand that it is often difficult for clients to integrate new technologies into existing infrastructures. Also with new technologies often come new problems so if it is not appropriate to employ a new technology then Aplos System have the flexiblity to use current technologies. If a company for example already has a number of systems in one technology then it is normally appropriate to continue further work in the same technology inside that company. Together the team at Aplos Systems has worked on all the major technologies available.

Anthony Mayfield is the managing director of Aplos Systems ltd. He graduated from Staffordshire University, a leading computing university with a 1st Class Bachelors degree with Honours. The degree, entitled Intelligent
Systems, focused on intelligent algorithms like neural networks, fuzzy logic and expert systems. He enjoyed the algorithm work immensely and
still has projects within this field to date. Although it is an emerging field he feels the great potential for commercial application and enjoys the interesting, cutting-edge
work. It involves a lot of vector mathematics and calculus which he's found extremely helpful within computing
and the problem solving skills needed for bespoke software development.
On the degree there were also core modules in standard computing technologies and practices. The university favoured Java as the leading 3G (third generation) programming language and he excelled in the language. It's through his portfolio of java work that he came to work a Neusciences. Neusciences had two main core products with major players in the manufacturing and Food & Beverage markets. At Neusciences he was initially placed on an Image Analysis project but his skills were quickly assessed to be beneficial to the flagship financial project. He moved between the two projects with a specialisation in advancing the systems infrastructures and developing web front ends.
As well as his work at Neusciences he has also done a number of freelance projects mainly in web-based resource management systems for different companies. He has a variety of personal application development projects that he keeps going in his spare time, as well as enjoying this work it also keeps to his skills up to date. One of the projects that he works on is for Neural Networks and is written in Java, he also maintains a business directory website written in .Net. He likes to try and keep his skill sets broad so that he can approach and manage his own projects without getting too absorbed in the technical details. This has helped him immensely when working with clients as he can speak both technical language and plain English!

Trevor Cole is Aplos Systems maths expert. His impressive skills, academic and commercial achievements have shaped many of the applications back-end
processes and ensured our software is accurate and efficient. Trevor has studied higher education Maths to a Masters degree level at Exeter and
Portsmouth universities and has taught Mathematics at Brune Park Community School. Trevor has a keen interest in intelligent
algorithms and genetic algorithms, mathematically intense topics that require a professional level of knowledge.
Trevor's interest in intelligent algorithms lead him to study computing as a means to program his work. In 1999 Trevor received an accreditation for C & C++ from the Association of Computer Professionals. It is with this knowledge that Trevor began working at Neusciences. He quickly transferred his C & C++ skills to Java to match the established infrastructure for application development at Neusciences.
Trevor worked on a number of projects involving cutting-edge algorithms for pattern recognition in different commercial applications. The range of these projects was broad and required significant levels of expertise. An interesting project that was very successful involved a security system that scanned the back of an employee's hand as a means of identification. Another successfully accomplished project was a genetic algorithm based application that minimised costs for a production line.
Anthony Mayfield joined Trevor on the Image Analysis project which is how they came to know and respect each other's work. Trevor currently works on the Image Analysis project as well as contracting on other projects. His mathematical skills have proved invaluable to Aplos Systems.

Graham Smith is Aplos Systems modern technologies expert. His interest in computing extends far beyond work and he possesses a curiosity for new and novel problem solving. He sources information from internet magazines and forums as well as books on everything from new languages to best practises. It is not only this but also his insight on how to apply these ideas that makes his services invaluable to Aplos Systems.
Graham Smith holds a Masters in Computer Sciences at distinction level and has worked on and lead some extremely influential computing projects. His track record of excellence in bespoke application development has lead him through the stages from junior developer to director of a company he currently runs. He has worked on high exposure multi-million pound contracts with the government and led projects in conjunction with Microsoft's XP platform. Grahams work in application development have been widely published and acknowledged.
Anthony Mayfield came to know Graham while working at Neusciences and enjoyed developing alongside him on the flagship project. They often engaged in conversation about current methodologies and practises sharing our knowledge and opinions of appropriate solutions. Graham can quickly identify the essence of questions and deliver quick and concise resolutions. His breadth of knowledge over various technologies in computing allows Aplos Systems to correctly select appropriate technologies for customers needs. Graham can also identify possible pitfalls of using certain technologies at a projects commencement, allowing the time needed to resolve issues.
